Adventure Game Studio (AGS)

Adventure Game Studio is a simple editor which allows its users to create point n' click adventure games similar to those by Lucas Arts.

After finding out recently about this particular editor, I decided to use it for the basis of my project just for some experimentation into how it worked and what was possible. I have always been interested in making a game myself but my lack of programming knowledge (and any ability to grasp it) has hindered my progression. My Art and Social Networking module provided me with the perfect opportunity to play about with this piece of software and additionally allow me to focus on something I was passionate about; Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMO).

The game I have created is very simplistic and acts as a prototype as something I would like to develop further in the future - possibly adding a few more environments and dialogue options. The game itself follows the experiences ( or experience as there is currently only one) of a new player in a MMO and focuses on the problems they may experience through the affects Social Hierarchy has on the way that people communicate and help one another. As a new player - that isn't normally very much at all. I wanted to create a futile situation where the main character needs to progress in the game, but since she needs the help of other players, is failing to proceed. Ideally I wanted to highlight how Social Networking can effect the overall play experience in an MMO for a new player.
